Our students don’t just “watch” - they build. From the very first hour, they’ll master tool safety and the “measure twice, cut once” precision of a tape measure.

By the end of the program, they’ll have framed a structural wall, plumbed a drain system, wired a real light switch and outlet, and completed a wall from open studs to finished surface.

They’ll leave with a handcrafted maple cutting board to take home and, more importantly, the confidence to fix the world around them.

We’re Restoring Something Powerful.

  • Workshop Foundations: Develop a "safety-first" mindset while mastering the professional use of hand and power tools.

  • Precision Measurement: Learn to read a tape measure to the fraction and apply mathematical accuracy to real-world builds.

  • Structural Framing: Build a solid foundation by framing a structural wall from the ground up.

  • Introductory Plumbing: Measure and join PVC, install a drain system, and learn the logic of leak detection and repair.

  • Electrical Basics: Safely install and wire a low-voltage light switch and outlet.

  • Interior Finishing: The art of hanging, patching, and finishing drywall for a professional look.

  • Fine Woodworking: Apply all the above skills to create a handcrafted maple cutting board to take home.

What Your Child Will Master

Build It. Plumb It. Wire It. Finish It.

Over four weeks, students will construct a real wall unit from start to finish, adding a new trade layer each week, just like on a real job site.

Week 1 - Carpentry + The Skeleton

>>How houses actually stand and how to work with them.

  • Master the tape measure, hammer, drill, impact driver, and hand saw

  • How to find a stud (with AND without a stud finder)

  • Whats behind drywall (and why it matters)

  • How to build a structural frame of a real wall

  • How to measure and mark the exact center of anything

  • How to drill straight

Future Power Skill: Understand what’s behind drywall before drilling.

Week 2 - Plumbing + The Flow

>> Water doesn’t have to win.

  • Measure, cut, and join PVC pipe systems

  • How to shut off water to a sink or toilet

  • Fix a basic leak

  • Clear a clogged P-trap

Future Power Skill: Fix a leaking pipe under the sink.

Week 3 - Electrical + The Spark

>>Understanding power so it’s not scary.

  • Learn the logic of power and how circuits flow

  • What breakers do and how to safely shut power off

  • Install a real low-voltage working switch + outlet

  • The difference between a light switch, 3-way switch, and outlet

  • How to replace a basic light fixture safely

Future Power Skill: Change an outlet or light switch without calling someone.

Week 4 - Drywall + The Fine Finish

>> From open studs to finished wall.

  • Hang, patch, and sand drywall

  • How to repair a hole

  • When to use anchors (and which kind)

  • Hang something heavy

  • Master the perfect caulk line

Future Power Skill: Mount something heavy without ripping it out of the wall.

The Take-Home

  • Completing a handcrafted maple cutting board

The 4-Week Intensive

Can’t commit to the full program? Join us on Fridays for a hands-on exploration of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or drywall - following the same sequence as our 4-week intensive. Each week focuses on one core skill, giving students guided, practical experience and confidence-building in a small group.

Drop-off Fridays — Weekly Skills Sessions

For families who prefer a full-week format, all core skills: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and drywall are covered in one action-packed week. Students will also complete a handcrafted maple cutting board and experience the same hands-on learning, problem-solving, and confidence-building as the 4-week program.

Summer Camp Option — One Week Intensive

Junior Trades Academy is organized by developmental stage to ensure instruction is safe, focused, and appropriately challenging. All cohorts build the same integrated wall system. Depth, precision, and independence vary by age.

Explorers Ages 7–10

Capped at 7 students

  • Focus: safe tool handling, foundational measurement, guided instruction, confidence building.

Builders Ages 11–14

Capped at 10 students

  • Focus: independent work, precision, systems-level understanding, troubleshooting, professional-level finish.

Makers Advanced Pathway (Future Sessions)

For students ready to move beyond foundational systems into advanced projects and applied trade work.

Age Divisions

Junior Trades Academy is almost here. We’re opening the workshop to the next generation of Explorers and Builders who are ready to trade screen time for tool time.

Spaces are intentionally limited to ensure every student gets the mastery they deserve. Join our waitlist now to secure their spot at the workbench.
